Category changes: Farming
We’re always looking for ways to improve how items are categorised on Trade Me, to better connect buyers and sellers in our marketplace.
As part of that work, we are making a number of changes to the Farming category to better reflect the range of products available. We’re adding a number of new categories and taking the opportunity to update some of the category labels. In particular, we’re bringing in new categories for:
- Dairy and milking equipment
- Fertilising & pest control
- Hay making
- Livestock health & management
- Pasture & lawn maintenance
- Planting
- Soil cultivation
- Trailers & transportation More...
Update: Qualifying for Pay Now
Good news - members with 10 feedback or more are now able to accept payment for sold items using Pay Now. Previously, you needed 50 or more feedback to use this service.
We’re keen for more sellers to experience the benefits of Pay Now, so we've reduced the required feedback rating for members to register. You’ll still need to be Address Verified and have a New Zealand bank account to use Pay Now. If you have any questions about this, drop our customer service team a line.
Trade Me to sell Treat Me

It remains business as usual at Treat Me – it will continue to operate under the same brand and with the same large, engaged subscriber base. More...

What is the reference number?
The reference number is used to identify each transaction between a buyer and seller on Trade Me. More...
An apology from Trade Me
Yesterday we made a change to Trade Me to allow multiple purchases from a single listing. What’s become clear now is that we didn’t do enough to ensure our members were aware of the changes in advance.
As a result we ended up causing some of you a lot of pain when it came to reconciling purchases with listings. We’ve let you down and we’re sorry.
Over the last day we’ve listened to what you’ve told us and made changes to reduce the pain. These include adding the listing number back into the Sold Items list within My Trade Me, and making it possible to search in Sold Items for both purchase reference numbers and listing numbers to help reconcile those transactions. Finally, we’ve brought on extra Trade Me crew to help. More...
