Some updates to our Privacy policy
We wanted to let you know about a couple of changes we’ll be making to our Privacy policy on 27 October 2017.
Jobs Profiles – Candidate Database
We’ve been in touch a couple of times over the past year about Trade Me Job Profiles, a product that enables job hunters to display relevant skills and experience to recruiters and prospective employers.
Trade Me can create your Job Profile for you, by using your saved CVs, contact details and jobs you’ve viewed or saved, or applied for through Trade Me. You’re also able to add in relevant skills and work experience to promote yourself to prospective employers.
Now that Job Profiles is out with a small group of enthusiastic job hunters, we’re preparing for the launch of the Trade Me Jobs Candidate Database, which enables selected recruiters or job advertisers to browse Trade Me’s Job Profiles.
Once your Job Profile is available to you, you’ll have control over what information you share, through three adjustable display settings. When your Job Profile is activated, we’ll remind you that your Job Profile information may be displayed to selected recruiters and job advertisers.
You will be able to change your display settings and remove your CVs from Trade Me at any time.
Facebook Custom Audiences
The second change allows Trade Me to use a Facebook product called Facebook Custom Audiences.
You may have seen updates from Trade Me in the past about the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes with customised advertising, like our use of Google Customer Match. Now, we’re keen to use Facebook Custom Audiences to show you ads that are specific to your interests or behaviour on Trade Me. You may see these ads if you’re browsing Facebook while you’re logged in.
When we use this product, we don’t share your personal information. However, we’ve made this update as we care about your privacy, and are committed to being transparent with how your information is used.
If this isn’t your cup of tea, you can opt out of Trade Me using your information to deliver you some customised advertising. You may still see some Trade Me ads while you’re browsing, but these won’t be targeted to you individually. You can check out more detailed information on our help page.
If you have questions about the upcoming changes, please get in touch.
