Changes to Pay Now
Last week we made some improvements to our Pay Now credit card payments service and these should make transactions safer for both card holders and sellers. Our policing team works 24/7 keeping an eye on these payments and if something on our radar looks suspicious Trade Me will take steps to protect members e.g. hold a payment, reverse a charge, etc.
The main change is around notification. If we're in the process of confirming a payment, both the buyer's and seller's My Trade Me page will now show 'Payment Held' and we'll send you both an email. You can click the 'Payment Held' link for more information. We'll then send you another email when we're happy with the payment, or if we’ve had to cancel it.
Note that until last week, there was no notification on your my Trade Me page if a payment was being investigated. More...

Free accommodation website for Cantabrians is live
Back on 6 May we started building a free website to help Cantabrians find Auckland accommodation for Rugby World Cup 2011.
We switched this new service on today: you can find it at www.quakemates.co.nz. Via QuakeMates, Aucklanders will be able to offer “in-home” accommodation for free on the site, and Canterbury fans will be able to take up offers via the Trade Me email system.
The idea came about after Rugby World Cup Minister Murray McCully approached us and asked if we could help out the many Cantabrians who need to find Auckland accommodation for the RWC games relocated after the earthquake. More...

Changes to job fees
We wanted to give you a heads up that on 1 July, the fee to list a job will increase from $129 to $149 (including GST).
The cost to feature a listing will also increase from $69 to $99 (including GST). Job pack prices will rise at the same time.
For more information on these price changes, email jobs@trademe.co.nz.
New pets option for rental listings
Good news for animal lovers out there looking for a place to rent on Trade Me Property - we’ve made a change that should help make your search a little easier.
Members listing residential property to rent will now have three options to choose from when it comes to pets and their property: ‘yes’, ‘no’ and the new option of ‘negotiable’. The words “pets negotiable” will appear in the text of listings when this new option is selected.
Change in banking details
Trade Me's bank account details for member payments are changing on 1 June. For the vast majority of members there will be no impact and the account number will automatically update when you credit your account as per the usual payment options.
However, although we do not encourage it, a small number of members credit their accounts "over the counter" at their bank branch. These people will need to get in touch to make sure they have the new account details. Alternatively, it might be a good time to switch to using one of the regular payment options.
