Processing payments over Easter

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 4:30pm, Thu 17 Apr 2014

Easter is almost here, so we wanted to give you a heads up there will be a delay with processing payments over the long weekend.

The banks will be closed on Friday 18 April and Monday 21 April (they need time to eat their Easter eggs, too!), so if you use phone or internet banking to top up your Trade Me account there will be a delay in your payment reaching us.

If your payment is made after 8pm today, it will arrive in your Trade Me account on the morning of Tuesday 22 April. More...

Written by The 'Category Change' team in General at 12:30pm, Wed 16 Apr 2014

We've just finished tinkering away in the Hunting & shooting category and thought we'd give you a progress update. As mentioned last week, we made changes to this category in two stages and have now completed our work here. Boom!

In short, we've added subcategories to the Shotguns, Rifles and Ammunition categories. You’ll still need to provide your firearms license ID for purchasing in these categories.

New Model Fields in Trade Me Motors

Written by The Trade Me Motors team in General and Motors at 12:00am, Wed 16 Apr 2014

We’re currently working on ways to make it easier for members selling vehicles on Trade Me, and for buyers to find the vehicle they are looking for.

To achieve this, we’re making some changes to the sell process to improve the data we have available. As part of this work we’ve deployed a change today that alters the way we handle the ‘model’ attribute for used cars in Trade Me Motors.

We’ve changed this to a drop-down list with a pre-determined set of models based on the chosen vehicle make. We’re also adding a ‘model detail’ field, which allows more specific detail on the sub-model or vehicle badge. More...

Winter is coming, so it’s time to think about the safety of the clothes that keep our kids toasty and snug during the colder months.

All children’s nightwear is required to have a fire hazard label sewn into the item to warn about the dangers of contact with fire. When we use heaters or light fires, we have to be extra vigilant about the safety and suitability of our children’s clothing.

Starting this April, we’ll be taking a tougher line in this space and where nightwear is identified as not having the correct labels, it will be removed from the site.  More...

Heartbleed: No impact here at Trade Me

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 5:51pm, Thu 10 Apr 2014

You may have seen reports about a major vulnerability known as Heartbleed in a popular piece of software called OpenSSL.

We've had some queries from members about the impact on Trade Me. In short, the news is that we are not affected by this bug as we don’t use the vulnerable OpenSSL library.

Note that you should change your password if it’s the same as one you use on a compromised site elsewhere.  More...
