A name change: Kiwis for kiwi
Back in May we announced a new partnership with the Save the Kiwi Trust. After 21 years, the Save the Kiwi Trust is becoming an independent trust with a new name: Kiwis for kiwi. As part of this change, its flash new logo below will appear on listings where the seller has pledged to donate their “success fee top-up”.
The funds from Trade Me sellers will support national kiwi recovery goals, which include doubling the population of the critically endangered rowi kiwi population on the South Island’s West Coast by 2018.
If you’re selling an item on Trade Me and want to donate to Kiwis for kiwi, just tick the check-box during the sell process. Please check out our help section for more information.

Helping entrepreneurs @ Startup Weekend Wellington
Trade Me was founded by a young and hungry Sam Morgan back in 1999, and it’s this awesome spirit of entrepreneurialism we’re helping to foster this year through Startup Weekend Wellington.
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement where entrepreneurs, developers and designers work together to form new businesses in a 54-hour marathon of inspiration, collaboration, and fun. We’re sponsoring the Wellington event, with our strategy manager Mike DelPrete providing expert advice on the judging panel, along with Michael Koziarski from Southgate Labs, Marie-Claire Andrews from SmartShow, Steve O'Connor from CreativeHQ, Elyssa Pallai from Pocket.Jobs, and Joseph Stuart from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
We reckon it takes guts and a lot of gusto to start a business, so it’s sure to be an exciting event full of talented individuals. Good luck to everyone involved. More...

Kiwi fashion icons join Trade Me
We’re stoked to welcome iconic NZ fashion brands Hallensteins and Glassons to Trade Me!
As well as a full range of clothing and accessories available through their Trade Me Stores, you’ll notice some of their listings have a ‘virtual catwalk’ video feature, showing off the item from its best angles. Just like you can see on their own websites, the Hallensteins and Glassons team worked with our techies to get the virtual catwalk feature up and running on Trade Me too, and we hope you find it useful. We’re also looking to have video available on other seller’s listings in the future, so watch this space.
Both stores offer free delivery, and flexible return and exchange policies. We think this provides buyers with great value and added confidence when making a purchase, especially when it comes to buying clothes online. More...
Releasing rowi kiwis into the wild with DOC
Back in May we introduced the BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust as one of our success fee partners. One of the Trust's initiatives is to work toward establishing a thriving population of rowi, the world's most endangered species of kiwi. There are less than 400 rowi around today.
Yesterday, Trade Me staff members PJ, Catherine & Sam joined DOC and the Trust in releasing 20 rowi onto Mana Island. This marks the first time in 600 years that rowi have been in the North Island.
Our staff were absolutely stoked to have been given the opportunity to be part of this unique event. Not only did they get to witness the release of some rowi, but travelled out to the island in style, courtesy of an RNZAF Iroquois. Check out the cool video from their journey out to Mana Island:
