Security update: Poodle

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 10:00am, Thu 23 Oct 2014

You may have heard some talk about a security vulnerability named Poodle (“Padding Oracle On Downloaded Legacy Encryption”) which affects browsers relying on an outdated Internet security protocol called SSL 3.0 or SSLV3. Because of the vulnerability we will no longer be supporting this old protocol.

The good news is that very few Trade Me members will be affected. We know the vast majority of members are using new versions of browsers which include newer and more secure security protocols. You do not need to update your browser if you are using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7 or a later version, or Opera 5 or a later version.

A small number of members using older browsers may experience issues visiting secure Trade Me pages and will need to update their browser. We know this might be a bit of a hassle for these members, but it’s an important change and part of providing our members with a safe and trusted marketplace.

- Management
- Panel & paint
- Sales, operations & parts
- Other

We’re adding this category because lots of roles are being listed on Trade Me Jobs in the Automotive industry, and they outgrew their old home.  More...

Kev is celebrating Save Kiwi Month this October

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 9:00am, Wed 1 Oct 2014

Today, our mascot Kev the Kiwi is celebrating the Kiwis for kiwi annual fundraising campaign: Save Kiwi Month.

Save Kiwi Month aims to raise $100,000 which is enough to save 1,000 kiwi from pests and predators for an entire year. This year, Kiwis for kiwi is looking at the plight of kiwi through the eyes of our children, the generation who could grow up to see the last kiwi disappear from New Zealand. The results are a wake-up call to all New Zealanders to make a donation to fund the ongoing efforts to protect our national bird, and to ensure our kids don't grow up without kiwi.

To support kiwi conservation, Kiwis for kiwi is selling money-can't-buy kiwi experiences and items available throughout Save Kiwi Month through their storeMore...
