An update to our terms and conditions

As we announced on 7 February, our new Buyer Protection safety net comes into force today.

Buyer Protection means that if you buy an item on Trade Me Marketplace using our card payment system, and it doesn’t arrive or isn’t as described, we can refund your money*.

Ability to list in a second category

Since the end of last year we’ve been trialling a new product that allows you to list some Marketplace items in a second category. The trial went well, so from today this product is available to 100% of members on the desktop site for $0.99.

The ability to list an item in two categories means you can get it in front of more potential buyers. For example, an art deco chair can now be listed in Antiques & collectables > Art deco & retro > Furniture, and Home & living > Lounge, dining & hall > Chairs at the same time.

Plus, if you buy a promotional extra like Gallery or Feature Combo, it will be applied to the listing in the second category for no extra charge.  More...

Buyer Protection - we’ve got your back

We launched a new initiative today for Trade Me members called Buyer Protection.

If you buy an item on Trade Me Marketplace using our card payment system, and it doesn’t arrive or isn’t as described, we can refund your money*.

Buyer Protection gives you even greater certainty when shopping on Trade Me and comes into effect from 21 February. More...

Upcoming terms and conditions change

Today we announced Buyer Protection – a new initiative that provides an extra safety net for buyers on Trade Me.

The introduction of Buyer Protection requires some tweaks to our terms and conditions, privacy policy and Pay Now terms and conditions. The changes are summarised below and will be made on 21 February.

As we announced on 13 January, today we’re making a change to our terms and conditions to allow items to be listed in a second category.

The new product that will allow you to list some Marketplace items in a second category will also be available to 100% of desktop users soon – watch this space.
